Ed Kovac

Ed Kovac, KnowledgeBank’s Vice President of Business Development, has more than 35 years of experience in the federal government training and human capital space. During his career as a learning development professional, he has counseled some of the top federal government agencies (e.g., IRS, State Department, Department of the Navy, FAA and other) on a variety of issues including operational and organizational analysis, change management, systems engineering, training design and development, communications and outreach, systems analysis, program analysis, human resource analysis and program/contract management.

Ed is the former CEO of VERTEX Solutions, Inc., an award-winning learning consulting firm he co-founded in 1996 to provide learning and human performance solutions. He grew VERTEX from a “boot-strapped” operation to employing approximately 150 staff prior to its acquisition by Adayana in 2008. In addition to his CEO responsibilities, Ed was responsible for the capture and award of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Training and Management Assistance (TMA) Contract.

Prior to VERTEX, Ed held several executive management positions with defense and information technology firms. In 1994 he held the position of OPM TMA Operations Director for the Human Capital Practice at Universal Systems, Inc. Ed was responsible for assessing client requirements, briefing preparation and support, proposal development, project planning, mobilization, oversight, quality control, resourcing (including subcontractors), budgeting and reporting.

Before that, Ed was Program Director at American Systems Corporation and was accountable for a 100-person professional services practice. Ed was responsible to provide training development, acquisition and implementation solutions and services in support of nationally recognized defense programs including the TRIDENT Submarine Program, Aegis Weapons Platform and Fire-Fighting Training Program. Earlier in his career, he was a training system construction manager for General Electric responsible for managing the installation of major weapon systems for the United States Navy.
